Abstract
BARROSO, Wanir José. Biossegurança em tuberculose na unidade de saúde no laboratório. Bol. Pneumol. Sanit. [online]. 2001, vol.9, n.2, pp.27-32. ISSN 0103-460X.
As the number of cases keep increasing, tuberculosis reflects the Public Health care in developing countries. Not considering tuberculosis as a possible diagnosis in a patient with respiration symptoms compromises the occupational risk, underestimates the biological risk and places biosafety on a secondary level, delaying the necessary tuberculosis control actions. In this context, the author comments on the multiples aspects of biosafety in tuberculosis, including standardization of occupational risks, mainly the biological one; the importance of administrative, environment control and respiratory protection measures; the Biosafety Commission and its role in the institution, standardizing obtainment and handling of samples, and bacteriological examination
