Abstract
FACANHA, Mônica Cardoso et al. Resgate de casos subnotificados de tuberculose em Fortaleza-CE, 2000-2002. Bol. Pneumol. Sanit. [online]. 2003, vol.11, n.2, pp.13-16. ISSN 0103-460X.
The number of cases of tuberculosis notified in Fortaleza shows a decreasing trend since 1995. That reduction could be due to the tuberculosis control activities, or to underdiagnosis or underregistration. This study aimed to evaluate if there was underregistration of tuberculosis cases and, in that case, to recover data from the tuberculosis cases not informed. A comparison among the informed cases in the official surveillance system (Sistema Nacional de Agravos de Notificação - SINAN) between 2000 and 2002 and the records of from the health centers (HC) with tuberculosis control program (TCP) was performed in Fortaleza. Fifty eight HC notified 5.206 case; HC with TCP informed 4.743 (91.1%). A total of 962 cases were recovered, on average 320 cases a year, what represents 18.5% of the total number of notifications. Due to the proportion of cases not informed, a routine surveillance of the cases informed and recorded at HC is suggested.
