Abstract

BRITO, Nara Macedo Botelho et al. Effects of the extract of sacaca (croton cajucara, benth) in oophorectomized rat mammary gland. Rev. Para. Med. [online]. 2006, vol.20, n.1, pp.15-18. ISSN 0101-5907.

OBJECTIVE: To verify the effects of the Croton Cajucara Benth (sacaca) in oophorectomized rat mammary gland. METHOD: The authors used 10 Rattus norvegicus albinus, female, virgins, adults, weighting 200 - 250 grams. In everyone were realized bilateral oophorectomize and they were distributed into control (n=5), and experimental groups (n=5), that received distilled water (0,5 mL) and sacaca’s extract (5mg/kg) per oral, respectively. The substances were administred per 28 days. The first pair of abdominal-inguinal mammary gland was dried up and it’s submitted to histologic evaluation. After, the authors used Kruskal-Wallis as statistic test. RESULS: There were significant diferences between experimental and control groups (P<0,05). CONCLUSION: The Croton cajucara, Benth presented an anti-estrogenic effect on rat mammary gland.
