Abstract

OBJECTIVE: report a case of squamous cells microinvasive carcinoma in a patient of 69 years, demonstrating the diagnostic elucidation and the importance of the preventive methods. CASE REPORT: patient G9 P6N A3, directed to FSCM-PA´s Cervical Pathology and Colposcopic clinic due to a 7 months iridescent vaginal bleeding and cytology evidencing squamous cells alteration suggestive of invasive carcinoma. In colposcopic examination one observed abnormal aspects: atypical transformation zone with thick white epithelium and irregular atypical vessels, positive Schiller, negative iodine test. The histopatological results of the directed biopsia for colposcopia was flaky cells microinvasive carcinoma, according to the cytological examination. FINAL CONSIDERATIONS: the cytological examination or Papanicolau, the colposcopy, and the histopatological results of the directed biopsia is an important preventive method for cervical neoplasia.
