ROBERTI, Alexandre et al. Nodular fasciitis in the neck: case report. Rev. Para. Med. [online]. 2007, vol.21, n.2, pp.41-44. ISSN 0101-5907.

INTRODUCTION: nodular fasciitis is a benign reactive myofibroblastic proliferative process of unknown etiology. It presents as a solitary painless nodule with rapid growing. The condition is self-limited, and the proper diagnosis is essential in order to avoid unnecessary aggressive treatment. The diagnosis is often a challenge because it may be confused with a malignant tumor due to its aggressive clinical behavior and histological features. Although most commonly located on the upper extremities and the trunk, in the head and neck region it occurs less frequently. The majority of cases arise in the soft tissue, i.e. fascia, muscle, or subcutaneous tissue. The treatment of choice is the surgical excision. OBJECTIVE: it is described a case report of a 42-year-old woman with an unusual presentation of that illness.

Palavras-chave : fasciitis, surgery; immunohistochemistry.
