In October 1998, the Ministry of Health present the NTP where adopted the WHO strategy DOTS with the implementation the all Tb control policy package. The targets of NTP are:to implement the new Tb control strategies to 100% administrative areas in the country; to detect 92% of existing cases by 2002; to cure 85% of detected new cases ; to halve the incidence of the disiase and reduce the mortality to 1/3 by 2007. The Ministry of Health will pay a bonus ( R$150 or R$100 if there was or not supervision in the treatment ) to health centres for each patient cured. Preliminary results are obteined in services of health that adopted the supervision of treatment
