The authors present a report of the results of a survey of the effectiveness of scheme 3 (3SZEEt/9EEt)*¹ on the treatment of tuberculosis in 1997. The informations are compared to others from equivalent studies conducted in Rio Grande do Sul. Data from 12 states involving results from 743 patients are compared with the results from Scheme I (2RHZ/4RH)* and showed less good results. Results also showed higher rates of non compliance, treatment failure, drug toxicity and deaths"
