The most effective measure for the tuberculosis prevention in the child, it is the systematic search of cases smear-positive tuberculosis. The highers group risk of tuberculosis in children are the contacts of positive lung tuberculosis and the ones that live in precarious socioeconomic conditions. The diagnosis of childhood tuberculosis is often uncertain, there are a continuing inability to confirm the diagnosis of tuberculosis in many children. The clinical diagnosis, in the child, is not helpfull; the baciloscopia is difficult in the 10 year-old smaller children and the methods sorológicos, ELISA, and the detection of DNA, PCR, didn't also correspond the expectation. The tuberculin skin test and to find the source case remains very important for tuberculosis diagnosis in children. The treatment of the tuberculosis is well tolerated by the children and as prevention methods the vaccine BCG and the chemoprophylaxis are the suitable ones
