In this article, the authors present a brief historical outline of the Information System for Notifiable Diseases (Sinan) describing the most relevant critical points in the formation of the system [Sinan-DOS (Disk Operating System)] as well as the more important contributions from technical meetings and fora. The authors also complete a critical review and identify technical reasons that support the development of the new Sinan using the Windows operating system.
