The schistossomiasis mansonic is an endemic disease in Brazil, and its clinical manifestations are described on literature. It's important to mention the experiences reported on Brazilian publications standing out their importance for the health services organization. This study performed a literature review concerning the occurrence of acute and chronic forms of schistossomiasis mansonic in Brazil from 1997 to 2006, by researching scientific articles published on Lilacs, PubMed-MEDLINE and SciELO databasis. A total of 34 publications were surveyed: six (17.65%) mentioning the occurrence of acute cases; 15 (44.12%) mentioning the hepatosplenic form; and 13 (38.24%) mentioning the occurrence of neuroschistossomiasis. The Northeast Region of Brazil contributed with two scientific articles on acute forms, 13 on hepatoesplenic forms, and three on neuroschistossomiasis, while the Southeast Region contributed with four scientific articles on acute forms, two on hepatosplenic form, and ten on neuroschistossomiasis.
