Abstract

DI COLLI, Leonardo; CORDONI JUNIOR, Luiz  and  MATSUO, Tiemi. Evaluation of hospitalization indicators, before and after the implementation of integral management in the health system of a municipality in the Southern Region of Brazil. Epidemiol. Serv. Saúde [online]. 2010, vol.19, n.4, pp.367-377. ISSN 1679-4974.  http://dx.doi.org/10.5123/S1679-49742010000400007.

OBJECTIVE: to analyze hospital indicators, before and after the implantation of the Integral Health Management in the city of Apucarana, Paraná, Brazil. METHODOLOGY: the following indicators were examined: hospitalization rates, average hospitalization time, hospitalization evasion/invasion ratio, and hospitalization/clinic. In order to analyze alterations among indicators, Poisson distribution was used and linear regression model analises in historical series, wasperformed. RESULTS: local hospitalization decreased from 7.72% to 7.54%, whereas evasion went from 1.15% to 1% and average hospitalization time increased from 390 to 3.97 days. The invasion ratio increased from 26.26% to 26.50%. Hospitalization after clinic type tended to decrease in obstetrics, and to increase in surgery. They were considered significant because of the time. Medical clinic andpediatricspresented no significant tendencies. CONCLUSION: indicators variations are possibly connected with the implantation of Apucarana's Integral Management.
