Abstract

OBJECTIVE: to desenhe the knowledge and the attitudes of healthprofessionals about suspected adverse drug reaction in a Scholl Hospital. METHODOLOGY: questionnaires were completed by 126 professionals, including physicians, pharmacists and nurses, working directly with activities involving medicines and education. RESULTS: the analysis showedpredominance of females, aged between 41-50years, time of graduation rangingfrom 21 to 30years, time working at the institution from 11 to 20years and the majority haspost-graduate degree. The knowledge acquired in the hospital on the adverse drug reactions (ADR) was considered insufficient for 43.7% of health profissionals. Nearly half (54.0%) marked the definition of ADR fully correct and all reported adopting some attitude in the presence of suspect ADR. CONCLUSION: most health professionals presented knowledge and all of them adopted attitudes when suspecting ADR.
