METHODOLOGY: the system was developed using internet technologies with free software model, which allows developers, researchers and users (managers in health services), to monitor trends in the system, and to empower change according to specific interests. RESULTS: a prototype of this system allows to update death and birth data and submit them to management reports (tables, graphs and maps), which can be used to present information and contribute to the study of IM in a municipality or microregion; this prototype was evaluated by technicians of the Regional Health Board, in the region. CONCLUSION: using theproposed system helps in improving the activities and resources of municipal health surveillance, with emphasis on improving the quality of information.
