OBJECTIVE: to evaluate the monitoring of health conditionalities of the Bolsa Família Program (PBF) in the municipality of Rio de Janeiro-RJ, Brazil, concerning their suitability to federal regulations and municipal guidelines. METHODS: an evaluation study was carried with data of 128 units, obtained from a survey conducted by the PBF health municipal coordination in 2008; descriptive analysis and multivariate cluster analysis grouping were conducted. RESULTS: data showed compliance of units with basic activities (95.2% performed prenatal; 98.4% measured weight/height; and 100.0% performed vaccination); other actions offered for children and women had greater variation in the frequencies of the units that held them (48.2% held education group, while 91.4% performed monitoring of growth and development); in 48.4% of the units was not given priority to the inclusion of families in the actions offered. CONCLUSION: the results indicate the needfor strategies to qualify health monitoring of conditionalities in the city.
