Abstract

MALTA, Deborah Carvalho  and  SILVA JR, Jarbas Barbosa da. Brazilian Strategic Action Plan to Combat Chronic Non-communicable Diseases and the global targets set to confront these diseases by 2025: a review. Epidemiol. Serv. Saúde [online]. 2013, vol.22, n.1, pp.151-164. ISSN 1679-4974.  http://dx.doi.org/10.5123/S1679-49742013000100016.

OBJETIVE: to present the Brazilian Plan to Combat NCDs and compare it with the global goals for combating these diseases by 2025. METHODS: a narrative review was performed of scientific articles and documents produced by WHO, PAHO and the Brazilian Government. The 2012 global goals were compared to those in Brazil's 2011NCD Plan. RESULTS: the Member States and WHO defined 25 indicators and9 targets for NCDs, including indicators for mortality and morbidity, exposure (risk factors) and health system response capacity. These indicators exist in the Brazilian NCD Plan. CONCLUSION: this set of indicators will enable comparable international evaluations regarding NCD status and trends over time, thus supporting each country'smonitoring situation.
