SILVA, Ricarlly Soares da; OLIVEIRA, Conceição Maria de; FERREIRA, Daniela Karina da Silva  and  BONFIM, Cristine Vieira do. Live Birth Information System variable completeness evaluation in the Northeast Brazilian States, 2000 and 2009. Epidemiol. Serv. Saúde [online]. 2013, vol.22, n.2, pp.347-352. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate Live Birth Information System (Sinasc)variable completeness in the Northeast Brazilian States, in 2000 and 2009. METHODS: descriptive study comprised of all live birth records held on Sinasc. Percentage incompleteness for each variable selected was calculated and judged by the following criteria: excellent (incompleteness < 5%); good (5-9.9%); fair (10-19.9%); poor (20-50%) and very poor (> 50%). RESULTS: the race/skin color variable had the highest percentages of incompleteness, reaching 20.5% in Sergipe (2009). The gender variable had the lowest percentage of incompleteness (less than 1%). Recording of the number of antenatal visits improved, with incompleteness ranging from 8.9% in Bahia in 2000 to 0.7% in Sergipe in 2009. CONCLUSION: This study's results confirm that Sinasc has good to excellent completeness.
