MORAIS NETO, Otaliba Libânio de et al. Projeto Vida no Trânsito: avaliação das ações em cinco capitais brasileiras, 2011-2012. Epidemiol. Serv. Saúde [online]. 2013, vol.22, n.3, pp.373-382. ISSN 1679-4974.  http://dx.doi.org/10.5123/S1679-49742013000300002.

OBJECTIVE: Evaluate the Projeto Vida no Trânsito in five Brazilian capitals in the years 2011-2012. METHODS: A descriptive study to evaluate the percentage of achieving the goals of the main interventions of the Project, the percentage of variation in mortality rates in the 2010-2011 period, rates of hospitalization and the prevalence of drinking and driving. The data sources were: monitoring report of the Project, Mortality Information System (SIM), hospital admissions (SIH) and Vigitel. RESULTS: The percentage of achieving the goals of the intervention programs "speed" and "drinking and driving" was above 60% in 2011 and lower in 2012. The performance was lower in the enforcement interventions. Between 2010 and 2011, there was a reduction in road traffic mortality in three capitals. CONCLUSIONS: The Project Life Transit showed positive results, their continuity may contribute to reducing deaths and injuries in traffic in Brazil.
