OBJECTIVE: to investigate the perception of Family Health Strategy (FHS) workers on the work performance of the oral health teams (OHT) in the city of Goiânia, Brazil. METHODS: a qualitative study using focal group for data collection and thematic content data analysis was conducted. Participants were FHS health workers in Goiânia: 10 community health workers, 5 nursing auxiliaries, 4 nurses and 4 doctors. RESULTS: for the participants, the work of the OHT was characterized by an emphasis on treatment, high amount of treatment needs, high demand, low coverage and low resolutivity, as a result of the high complexity of dental health care. The interpersonal relationship of the OHT was considered positive. Opinions regarding the impact of the actions on the population's oral health were divergent. CONCLUSION: the team workers perceived the focus on treatment, the humanized nature of oral health care, and the limiting factors of this work.
