Abstract

It is reported the occurrence of canine and human leptospirosis, kinvolving a dog rescued from the streets of the Municipality of São Paulo, São Paulo State, Brazil and its caretaker. Clinical, laboratory and epidemiological aspects suggest conjunctival transmission. Precautions to be observed in human-dog relationship are discussed in order to prevent new cases.
