Factors prediction for resistance to tuberculostatic agents

Objective

Overall objective:
To develop a model of prediction for resistance to tuberculostatic agents Specific objective:

• Assignment of patients considering demographic characteristics, HP, Tb-HIV co-infection. Characteristics associated with resistance.

Description of the resistance pattern.

• To find out whether the H and R drug combination, provided in association, reduces resistance to such drugs.

• To establish a prediction model that is easy to apply in public services.

Prediction factors for resistance to tuberculostatic agents. Material and Method.

Case-control trial, Rio de Janeiro, May-July, 1994.

Case: Patients presenting with resistance to at least one of the drugs tested for sensitivity.

Control: patients presenting with sensitivity to all drugs tested.

Risk Factor: Report on previous tuberculosis treatment.

Inclusion: Patients with pulmonary Tb, confirmed in sputum culture. Aged over 15 years and both sexes.
