MATERIAIS E MÉTODOS: Estudo ecológico de 356 casos novos registrados em Belém, cujos dados foram coletados no Sistema de Informação de Agravos de Notificação. Foram avaliadas as seguintes variáveis clínico-epidemiológicas: sexo, faixa etária, classificação operacional, forma clínica, grau de incapacidade física no diagnóstico, modo de detecção e coeficiente de detecção em menores de 15 anos de idade. Realizou-se o georreferenciamento, a partir do endereço registrado na ficha de notificação, para a produção de mapas com divisão por bairros, e correlacionou-se a taxa de incidência com os dados socioeconômicos de cada bairro, a partir da regressão linear.  RESULTADOS: O município de Belém foi classificado como hiperendêmico para hanseníase em menores de 15 anos de idade, sendo destacados cinco bairros que concentravam aproximadamente 35% dos casos. Dos 71 bairros, 22 foram considerados hiperendêmicos pela taxa de detecção, e o georreferenciamento identificou duas áreas de clusters. A correlação com dados socioeconômicos demonstrou significância para falta de renda, ausência de coleta de lixo e ausência de coleta de esgoto.  CONCLUSÃO: A distribuição da hanseníase não é homogênea no município, havendo necessidade de direcionamento dos recursos para as áreas de maior vulnerabilidade.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[RESUMEN  OBJETIVOS: Identificar la distribución espacial de los casos de lepra en menores de 15 años, en el municipio de Belém, estado de Pará, Brasil, entre 2005 y 2014, y correlacionar a indicadores socioeconómicos.  MATERIALES Y MÉTODOS: Estudio ecológico de 356 nuevos casos registrados en Belém, cuyos datos fueron recogidos en el Sistema de Información de Enfermedades de Declaración Obligatoria. Se evaluaron las siguientes variables clínico-epidemiológicas: sexo, grupo de edad, clasificación operativa, forma clínica, grado de discapacidad física en el momento del diagnóstico, modo de detección y coeficiente de detección en niños menores de 15 años. Se realizó georreferenciación, a partir de la dirección registrada en el formulario de notificación, para la elaboración de mapas divididos por barrios, y la tasa de incidencia se correlacionó con los datos socioeconómicos de cada barrio, a partir de la regresión lineal.  RESULTADOS: El municipio de Belém fue clasificado como hiperendémico para lepra en menores de 15 años, y se destacaron cinco barrios que concentraron aproximadamente el 35% de los casos. De los 71 barrios, 22 fueron considerados hiperendémicos por la tasa de detección, y la georreferenciación identificó dos áreas de clusters. La correlación con los datos socioeconómicos mostró la importancia de la falta de ingresos, la ausencia de recolección de basura y la ausencia de recolección de aguas residuales.  CONCLUSIÓN: La distribución de la lepra no es homogénea en el municipio, es preciso direccionar los recursos para las áreas de más vulnerabilidad.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT  OBJECTIVES:  To identify the leprosy spatial distribution cases in individuals under 15 years old, in Belém, Pará State, Brazil, from 2005 to 2014, correlating with socioeconomic indicators.  MATERIALS AND METHODS:  An ecological study was conducted with 356 new cases registered in Belém, whose data were collected in the Information System for Notifiable Diseases. The following clinical and epidemiological variables were evaluated: sex, age group, operational classification, clinical form, degree of physical disability in the diagnosis, detection mode, and detection coefficient in individuals under 15 years old. Georeferencing was carried out from the address registered in the notification form to produce maps with neighborhood divisions, and the incidence rate was correlated with the socioeconomic data of each neighborhood using linear regression.  RESULTS:  Belém was classified as hyperendemic for leprosy in individuals under 15 years old, and five districts with approximately 35% of cases. Of 71 neighborhoods, 22 were considered hyperendemic due to the detection rate, and georeferencing identified two cluster areas. The correlation of socioeconomic data showed significance for lack of income, absence of garbage and sewage collection.  CONCLUSION:  The leprosy distribution is not homogeneous in Belém, with the necessity to direct resources to the most vulnerable areas.]]></p></abstract>
