<body><![CDATA[<p>&nbsp;</p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><b>Key words:</b> tuberculosis,    drug resistance, laboratory diagnosis</font></p>       <p>&nbsp;</p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"> A utiliza&ccedil;&atilde;o    do sistema MB/BacT para realiza&ccedil;&atilde;o de antibiograma para tuberculose    est&aacute; baseada nos trabalhos de Beer <b>et al</b>., 1997a e Beer, Kuchler    &amp; Rodloff, 1997b. Como continua&ccedil;&atilde;o,nBrunello &amp; Fontanan    (2000) compararam o m&eacute;todo indireto do MB/BacT com o sistema radiom&eacute;trico    e Diaz-Infantes <b>et al.</b> (2000) com o m&eacute;todo das propor&ccedil;&otilde;es    em &aacute;gar. O meio de Lowenstein Jensen para a realiza&ccedil;&atilde;o    do antibiograma &eacute; um dos mais utilizados pelos laborat&oacute;rios de    sa&uacute;de p&uacute;blica no Brasil, mas apresenta alguma dificuldade para    testar drogas como a Pirazinamida e Etionamida. Nosso intuito foi avaliar o    teste de sensibilidade pelo m&eacute;todo indireto &agrave;s drogas utilizadas    nos principais esquemas de tratamento para a tuberculose, no sistema MB/BacT    utilizando o m&eacute;todo das propor&ccedil;&otilde;es como padr&atilde;o-ouro    em meio Lowenstein Jensen. Foram testadas 25 culturas de pacientes com tuberculose    pulmonar, com indica&ccedil;&atilde;o cl&iacute;nica para realiza&ccedil;&atilde;o    de antibiograma , da rotina do nosso laborat&oacute;rio. Os in&oacute;culos    foram preparados a partir de suspens&atilde;o turva da escala 1 de McFarland    dilu&iacute;da a 1/10 e semeados em volumes de 0,1 ml em frascos de meio de    cultura do MB/BacT adicionados previamente de Rifampicina (RMP - 2,0 &#181;g/ml),    Isoniazida (INH - 0,2&#181;g/ml), Etambutol (EMB- 2,5&#181;g/ml), Etionamida    (ETH - 1,25&#181;gml), Estreptomicina (2,0&#181;g/ml) e Pirazinamida (PZA- 100,0&#181;g/ml).    Os testes foram validados utilizando-se como padr&atilde;o ouro o teste indireto    do m&eacute;todo das propor&ccedil;&otilde;es segundo Canetti <b>et al.</b>    (1969), utilizando- se as drogas nas concentra&ccedil;&otilde;es cl&aacute;ssicas.    O resultado final do teste &eacute; determinado pelo crescimento no frasco contendo    o in&oacute;culo utilizado para o teste, dilu&iacute;do 1/100.Neste estudo preliminar    observamos os seguintes resultados para sensibilidade, especificidade e valores    preditivos positivo e negativo, com intervalo de confian&ccedil;a de 95 %.</font></p>     <p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"> Estes resultados    apontam para uma boa acur&aacute;cia do teste, principalmente em rela&ccedil;&atilde;o    a Rifampicina e a Isoniazida.
