Métodos:  para espacializar as AIHs, estruturou-se um script em linguagem R, com base nos pacotes microdatasus e CepR; o script foi aplicado para levantamento das AIHs em Goiás, referentes ao ano de 2015; após o download e pré-processamento dos dados, foi detalhado o procedimento para espacialização das AIHs.  Resultados:  das 361.213 AIHs processadas, foi possível extrair 24.220 códigos de endereçamento postal (CEPs) diferentes; deste conjunto de CEPs, foram geolocalizados 23.910 (98,7%); estes CEPs geolocalizados permitiram a espacialização de 97,7% das AIHs processadas para o estado de Goiás.  Conclusão:  é possível espacializar as AIHs com alto índice de sucesso; o método detalhado neste trabalho abre um novo leque de possibilidades para o desenho de estudos avaliativos, formulação de políticas e planejamento de ações de cuidado em saúde.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen  Objetivo:  presentar una solución para permitir la geolocalización de internaciones procesadas junto al Sistema de Informaciones Hospitalarias del Sistema Único de Salud de Brasil.  Métodos:  con la finalidad de espacializar las AIHs, se elaboró um script en lenguaje R, con base en los paquetes microdatosus y CepR; el script se aplicó a todos los AIHs realizados en el estado de Goiás referentes a 2015; después de descargar y pre-procesar los datos, se detalló el procedimiento para la espacialización de AIHs.  Resultados:  de los 361.213 AIHs procesados, fue posible extraer 24.220 diferentes códigos postales (CEP); de este conjunto de códigos postales, 23.910 (98,7%) fueron geolocalizados; estos CEPs geolocalizados permitieron la espacialización del 97,7% de los AIHs registrados en Goiás.  Conclusión:  es posible espacializar las AIHs con una alta tasa de éxito; el método detallado en este documento abre una nueva gama de posibilidades para el diseño de estudios evaluativos, la formulación de políticas y la planificación de acciones de salud.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract  Objective:  to describe a solution enabling geolocation of hospital admissions (AIH), processed on the Brazilian National Health System&#8217;s Hospital Information System.  Methods:  in order to spatialize AIHs an R language script was written, based on the microdatasus and CepR packages; the script was applied to identify all AIHs in Goiás state in the year 2015; after downloading and pre-processing the data, the procedure for AIH spatialization was detailed.  Results:  of the 361,213 AIHs processed, we were able to retrieve 24,220 different ZIP codes (CEPs); from this set of ZIP codes, 23,910 (98.7%) were geolocated; these geolocated ZIP codes enabled spatialization of 97.7% of AIHs processed for the state of Goiás.  Conclusion:  it is possible to spatialize AIHs with a high success rate; the method detailed in this paper opens a new range of possibilities for the design of evaluation studies, formulation of policies and planning of health care actions.]]></p></abstract>
