MATERIALS AND METHODS: A whole genome was identified in a fecal pool of broiler chicken using high throughput sequencing and phylogenetic analysis.  RESULTS: The complete genome was characterized as belonging to the genus Bavovirus within the family Caliciviridae.  CONCLUSION: This is the first description of this genus in the Amazonian Region and one of the few in Brazil, highlighting the need to monitor this virus to better understand its epidemiology and zoonotic potential.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="pt"><p><![CDATA[RESUMO  OBJETIVO: Investigar a presença de vírus em amostras fecais de frangos clinicamente normais do gênero Gallus gallus, coletadas em uma granja comercial localizada no município de Benevides, Região Metropolitana de Belém, estado do Pará, Região Norte do Brasil.  MATERIAIS E MÉTODOS: Um genoma inteiro foi identificado em um pool fecal de frango de corte, usando sequenciamento de alto rendimento e análise filogenética.  RESULTADOS: O genoma completo foi caracterizado como pertencente ao gênero Bavovirus da família Caliciviridae.  CONCLUSÃO: Esta é a primeira descrição desse gênero na Região Amazônica e uma das poucas no Brasil, evidenciando a necessidade de monitoramento do vírus para melhor compreender sua epidemiologia e potencial zoonótico.]]></p></abstract>
