Abstract

GOMES, Almério de Castro; SILVA, Nilza Nunes da; BERNAL, Regina Tomie Ivata  and  SOUZA, André de. Estimation of House Infestation by Aedes aegypti (Diptera:Culicidae) Using Adultrap. Epidemiol. Serv. Saúde [online]. 2008, vol.17, n.4, pp.293-300. ISSN 1679-4974.  http://dx.doi.org/10.5123/S1679-49742008000400006.

It was analyzed the application of the Adultrap® in a same sample of the reading of the fast house index for measuring the number of adults of Aedes aegypti (LIRAa) in a domicile or premise. From the average of 555 premise/month, 15 units had breeding sites for the species and 53 showed the presence of females. The house index for larva/pupa (IPL) varied from zero to the maximum of 4.97%, while the house index for adult (IPA) was from 2.21 to 17.32%. The MacNemar test showed significant differences between the positivity of IPL and IPA in every month of the year. Moreover, it detected females of Ae. aegypti in period of low population density, without the invasive and nuisance character of container researching for the IPL. The Adultrap® revealed to be useful to identify situations of dengue transmission, as well easiness in operational use.
